Cruroplasty in Barcelona: which type of thigh lift you need
A thigh lift (cruroplasty) treats loose skin on the inner thigh, which rubs when you walk, causes irritation and does not improve with exercise. The technique depends on where the excess is:
- Excess in the upper third: horizontal thigh lift with the scar hidden in the groin crease.
- Excess down to the knee: vertical thigh lift, with a scar along the inner thigh. It is more visible, but it is the only one that corrects extensive laxity.
- Fat with good skin: not a candidate for a lift; it is treated with liposuction.
Heavy, painful legs that bruise easily and are out of proportion with the upper body may be due to lipedema. In that case the first step is to treat the lipedema and, if excess skin remains afterwards, to consider a thigh lift.

Risks and complications of thigh lift
Every operation carries risks. Most complications are uncommon and can be treated, but you have the right to know them before deciding: they are part of the informed consent you will sign with Dr. Liuzza. For thigh lift, the most relevant are:
- Scar: in the groin or along the inner thigh; it may thicken, widen or migrate downwards over time.
- Partial wound opening: the most common complication because of moisture, friction and tension in the area; resolves with dressings.
- Seroma: fluid collection that may need aspiration.
- Prolonged swelling (lymphoedema): from disruption of lymphatic vessels in the thigh; usually improves with compression and drainage.
- Altered sensation: numbness of the inner thigh, usually temporary.
- Infection: somewhat more frequent than in other areas because of the location; treated with antibiotics.
- Asymmetry: may require a touch-up.
